Barnes is a character that appears in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. He is a balding man who lives in Kakariko Village, and he runs a business named Barnes Bomb Shop. Despite being a bomb salesman, Barnes is cowardice, and whenever he is scared, Barnes pulls down his face guard.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Barnes is first seen while Kakariko Village is covered in twilight. He is inside of the sanctuary, hiding from Shadow Beasts with Renado, Luda, and the children of Ordon Village. Barnes tells the children of Ordon Village that he tried to scare off the Shadow Beasts with Bombs, but figured that if he got caught by the monsters then he would become one hismelf. He tells this to the children of Ordon Village, and Renado snaps at him for scaring them.

As Link and Midna collect the Tears of Light needed to dispel the Twilight from Kakariko Village, they inadvertently set Barnes' bomb storage on fire and thus destroy his entire supply of them. After the twilight has vanished from the area, Barnes reopens his Bomb Shop. At first, Barnes only has regular Bombs for sale for two reasons: his shop was destroyed earlier and he cannot acquire the necessary materials for creating other types of bombs because the Gorons have become hostile toward anyone who is not a Goron.

Later, when King Bulblin kidnaps Colin, Barnes walks out of Malo Mart and encounters King Bulblin. After King Bulblin pulls up his faceplate, Barnes conversely drops his own faceplate down and freezes. He stays like this until after Link has stopped King Bulblin. Barnes also gives off this response if Link enters Barnes Bomb Shop in his wolf form.

After Link has helped the Gorons, allowing Barnes to trade materials with them again, Barnes sends a letter to Link whenever a new type of bomb, such as a Water Bomb, is available.

If Link takes out his Lantern while inside Barnes Bomb Shop, Barnes stomps the floor, causing water to drop onto Link and douse the flame in his Lantern. If Link is close enough to Barnes, he instead yells at Link to make him extinguish his lantern.
