Puppets are large marionettes used as weapons by Skull Kid. They have large smiles and wear huge withered leaves as capes.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Puppets are summoned by Skull Kid using his horns as he "plays" with visitors in the Sacred Grove and surrounding Lost Woods. They are first seen chasing the flower-wearing monkey out of the Sacred Grove and into the main part of Faron Woods.

Puppets are usually summoned in groups of three or four, though as the battles against Skull Kid progress, he gradually increases the amount until he is summoning around twice that at a time. They move quickly through the air to try and surround Link, attacking with their spindly arms. Though large, fast, and numerous, they are quite weak both in attack and defense, and as such Skull Kid quickly replenishes any that are defeated.

Once Skull Kid is defeated the second time, Puppets stop appearing normally. However, single Puppets can be made to appear by rolling into trees in the Lost Woods.

Hyrule Warriors series[edit]

In Hyrule Warriors Legends and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (as well as retroactive DLC for the original Hyrule Warriors), Puppets appear as part of a few of Skull Kid's attacks. They use their original design, despite Skull Kid himself not using the corresponding Twilight Princess design.

Trivia[edit]

  • Puppets are given a possible nod in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the stage "The Forest." It begins with Link pulling the Master Sword, and the primary enemies in the next section are very similar marionettes called "Puppits."
