Much like normal Keese, they attempt to fly into [[Link]] on sight, which will destroy his [[Deku Shield]] if it is equipped and catch him on fire, which can be put out through [[roll]]ing. However, the attack will also dispel their own flames, rendering them normal Keese. In some rooms, extinguished Fire Keese and certain normal-by-default Keese will fly into [[torch]]es to become Fire Keese. They can be defeated safely with long-range weaponry, such as the [[Fairy Slingshot]] and the [[Fairy Bow]].

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons]]'' and ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages]]'', Fire Keese are distinctly larger than normal Keese. In the former game, they appear in the [[Sword & Shield Maze]], and in the latter game, they are introduced in the [[Skull Dungeon]]. In both games, they tend to fly high out of reach and attempt to dive at Link, like the Keese in the 3D games. Like in the previous games, they are extinguished after attacking and will use torches to re-light themselves. Sometimes when Link is far away, they will land and rest. When they take flight again, a flame will be left where they touched the ground for a few moments.
