Bio-Electric Anemone: Barinade is the third boss of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, appearing inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, where it acts as a parasite to Lord Jabu-Jabu placed by Ganondorf. Barinade is the enormous master and seemingly the progenitor to the many parasitic Baris and Biris, and much like them, its entire body is coated with electricity unless it is stunned. Three of its Parasitic Tentacles burrow throughout Jabu-Jabu's body, withdrawing when individually defeated by Link. It also has three shorter tentacles which end in a flower-like structure that can shoot beams of electricity. Barinade's primary weak point is the bulbous pink mass in its center, which it surround with giant electric jellyfish. Barinade is among the more behaviorally complex bosses in the game, having four distinct phases.

Barinade's primary weak point is the bulbous pink mass in its center, which it surround with giant electric jellyfish. Barinade is among the more behaviorally complex bosses in the game, having four distinct phases.

During its first phase, Barinade is firmly anchored to the ceiling by its Parasitic Tentacles, and it attacks with its electric beams. To dislodge it, Link needs to throw his Boomerang at the weak points of each Parasitic Tentacle, severing them with one hit each. Barinade them falls to the floor and becomes partially embedded. Here it begins its second phase, twirling the upper half of its jellyfish around a wide area as it slowly moves about the room, continuing to shoot electricity. The jellyfish normally repel all attacks, thus acting as an offensive shield, but if the boomerang gets between them and hits Barinade's body, they temporarily become slow, stunned, and vulnerable, with each jellyfish taking one hit to destroy. Once all are destroyed, Barinade begins its third phase, raising up further and twirling the bottom half of its jellyfish. Compared to before, it moves quicker and spins its jellyfish in a tighter circle, making it harder to get the boomerang through, though ultimately it is damaged the same way. Once all the jellyfish are destroyed, Barinade begins its final stage, raising out of the floor fully and spinning around the room at a high speed, shooting many beams, occasionally stopping to sink and fire beams more rapidly. Hitting it with the boomerang as it moves stuns it and makes it fall to the ground, allowing it to be attacked directly, though after enough hits it sinks its body underneath for a few moments while shooting at Link. After this, it raises back up and begins spinning around the room again. After enough damage, Barinade is defeated, getting covered in pink galls and exploding into green slime and pink tissue.
