The '''Crimson Loftwing''' is a [[Loftwing]] belonging to [[Link]]. It makes its first and main appearance in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword]]'', where he helps Link travel [[The Sky]] or to [[The Surface]]. Color aside, the Crimson Loftwing is unique in that he has fur instead of feathers on his upper wings.

In ''The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword'', prior to the [[Wing Ceremony]], [[Groose]], [[Cawlin]] and [[Strich]] kidnap the Crimson Loftwing and imprison him inside a small cave beyond the [[Waterfall Cave]]. With the help of [[Eagus]], [[Princess Zelda|Zelda]] and his classmates, however, Link is able to find the Crimson Loftwing past the Waterfall Cave and participate in the race. Described by Headmaster [[Gaepora]] as a rare breed, the Crimson Loftwing was once thought to be extinct. Link and his Loftwing were immediately able to bond and work together, something that made Zelda envious of as her father noted.

During his quest, Link has to rid the spirit of the skies [[Levias]] of a [[Bilocyte|parasite]]. In order to do this, [[Owlan]] teaches Link the [[Spiral Charge]] to perform while riding the Crimson Loftwing. This technique allows Link to perform a drill-like attack, enabling him to rid Levias of his parasite. It is known that the Crimson Loftwing is very rare.
