In The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Eox, Ancient Stone Soldier now has a titanic full body. He is seemingly a creation of Bellum who invaded Mutoh's Temple on the Island of Ruins, angering the ghost of King Mutoh greatly. When Link enters its arena, Eox is just a giant pile of rubble. He quickly assembles himself once Link approaches, however, and stomps his foot while roaring. To attack, Eox can shoot the spikes in its face out one at a time like arrows, which regrow all at once a few moments later. He can also slam a fist down if Link is in front of him to knock Link into the pit around the battlefield with the shockwave. However, he is very slow to turn his body and loses track of Link completely if he gets behind him. To damage him, Link must use the hammer one one of the seesaw pillars located around the battlefield. Once in the air, he must repeatedly attack the many large red stakes scattered across his body with the hammer as well. Every time one is hit, the corresponding section of Eox's body becomes more cracked, crumbling on the fourth hit, exposing the wooden rigging underneath. There are ten total stakes: two on his front, two on each arm, one on each leg, one on his rear, and one on the back of his head.

Once all stakes have been driven in, four black hexagonal buttons on his body glow red. Two are on his front where the corresponding stakes were, while two more are on his shoulders. When pressed, they turn blue. Link needs to hit all the buttons in one jump with the hammer, or they will push back out. Once they are all blue, Eox's body will crumble, leaving him as just a head.

For the third phase, the camera shifts from its side-oriented view to the typical bird's-eye view, as Eox's head begins slowly hopping around while firing all its spikes at once repeatedly. Link must use the seesaw pillars to bounce onto Eox, allowing him to hit the blue jewel in the center with his sword, turning it from blue to red repeatedly. After several hits, Eox will roll around on the rim of its head rapidly to throw him off, and the process must be repeated. A few hits later, Eox is defeated, and its head bounces around before moaning and falling lifelessly to the ground. It then turns into Sand of Hours for the Phantom Hourglass, adding two minutes. The camera returns to the side view, while a stairwell to King Mutoh's resting place opens.
