'''Faron Woods''' is a large forest in [[Hyrule]] that appears in a few ''[[The Legend of Zelda (series)|The Legend of Zelda]]'' games, starting with ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess]]''. It is the defining location of the [[Faron (province)|Faron]] province and filled with lush vegetation, sometimes on a massive scale.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess]]'', Faron Woods is one of the locations that Link visits the most throughout his journey. The southern section is a small, peaceful area, which is separated via a [[lantern cavern]] from the larger northern section. It features a large, low-laying area full of trees that gets filled with noxious [[fog]] after its first visit, as well as an area leading up to a cliffside with a natural bridge to a massive tree, which houses the entrance to the [[Forest Temple]]. The cliffside also features a few jutting crags that can be used to access the [[Sacred Grove]]. Both the south and north sections have their own [[Warp Portal]] (labeled '''South Faron Woods''' and '''North Faron Woods''') and shop, those being [[Coro's Lantern Shop]] and [[Trill's Shop]], respectively.

Link is first shown in Faron Woods at [[Faron Spring]] at the beginning of the game as [[Rusl]] speaks with him about feeling a presence of people who only exist in the twilight hours, foreshadowing the rest of the game's plot. They then pack up and return to [[Ordon Village]], where the player begins.

The first time Link enters Faron Woods in gameplay is in search of [[Talo]], who had gone missing after chasing a [[monkey]] deep into the woods. As Link explores the forest, he meets [[Coro]], the only human inhabitant of Faron Woods. Coro gives him a free [[Lantern]] as a sales tactic to sell more [[Lantern Oil]]. With the Lantern, Link travels through a dark, monster-infested cave ahead. In the following low-laying, [[Bokoblin]]-filled area, he obtains a [[Small Key]] that allows him to access the Forest Temple exterior ahead via a gate. When Link reaches the entrance of the Forest Temple, he finds Talo and a monkey trapped in a cage and rescues them from the Bokoblins.

The next time Link goes to Faron Woods, it is covered in [[twilight]]. Link gets pulled in by a [[Shadow Beast|Twilit Messenger]] and is transformed into a [[Wolf Link|wolf]] for the first time. When Link and Midna return to Faron Woods, they meet [[Faron (spirit)|Faron]], a [[light spirit]], who tells them to collect the [[Tears of Light]] to restore light to the area. As they explore, they find the low-laying section filled with toxic fog, and as such jump through the treetops above to pass through. More Twilit Messengers also appear to obstruct them, along with twilight-corrupted versions of previous enemies.

After collecting all the Tears, Faron is freed, and he returns Link to his normal form. He then instructs Link to go into the Forest Temple and collect the first [[Fused Shadow]]. This time, the fog is gotten through after the monkey from before steals his Lantern and uses it to dissipate sections of the fog away, dropping it for him to pick up once they get through. As Link nears to the temple, he encounters a [[Golden Wolf]], who changes into the [[Hero's Shade]] and teaches him his first [[Hidden Skill]], the [[Ending Blow]].

Later, Link returns on two separate occasions in order to access the [[Sacred Grove]] found deep within the forest.

====''The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword''====
In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword]]'', Faron Woods is the first area on the surface Link visits after leaving the [[Sealed Grounds]]. Its primary inhabitants are the timid [[Kikwi]]s led by [[Bucha]], who have been scattered due to the appearance of Bokoblins in the forest. Like before, it is divided into two sections: a large area surrounding the base of a huge, hollow tree and a a large cliff area leading to the [[Skyview Temple]].

Link first passes through while heading to the [[Skyview Temple]] where [[Princess Zelda|Zelda]] is. First, however, he needs to reunite the Kikwis. Once he does so, Bucha gives him the [[slingshot]], which helps him reach and navigate the temple. Unknown to him, he is being spied on by [[Ghirahim]] throughout.

Later, he returns to Faron Woods to complete its [[Silent Realm]] trial, where he first encounters the [[Guardian (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword)|Guardian]]s and [[Watcher]]s. Once he completes it, he is given the [[Water Dragon's Scale]], allowing him to enter the tree and climb up its interior. Returning outside to the treetops, Link finds a loudly snoring old Kikwi named [[Yerbal]], who tells him where the water dragon, [[Faron (dragon)|Faron]] is, that being the nearby [[Lake Floria]]. He also tells him how to access the lake. Finding the dragon wounded, Link travels back through the Skyview Temple to obtain some [[sacred water]] for her.

Even later, the water dragon has flooded the woods due to a large influx of monsters such as [[Moblin]]s. Link speaks to her, needing her section of the [[Song of the Hero]], and she agrees to teach him and unflood the forest if he can obtain all the [[Tadtone]]s she has placed throughout the water of the tree's section. The search is complicated by the arrival of several [[Cranioc]]s, however. Once he collects all of them, she keeps her promise and unfloods the woods, which remain free of the stronger enemies.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild]]'', Faron Woods is one of many forests within the jungles of the Faron region. As with the rest of Faron, visiting it is entirely optional in the quest of restoring the [[Divine Beast]]s.

In ''[[Hyrule Warriors]]'', Faron Woods appears as a stage, being a dark, misty treetop village made as a resistance hideout during [[Cia]]'s takeover. Its music is known as "In the Greenwood." It features ten [[keep]]s, most prominently one within the lifeless husk of the [[Great Deku Tree]] in the middle. Additionally, a [[Great Fairy]] spring is in the northeast corner. In Legend Mode, it only appears in one scenario, that being [[The Sorceress of the Woods]], where Link, [[Impa]], and [[Sheik]] meet [[Lana]] and are attacked by [[Wizzro]] and [[Gohma]]. Additionally, the [[bow]] item is obtained. It also appears in many [[Adventure Mode]] maps. The design for ''Skyward Sword''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Faron Woods is incorporated into the Sealed Grounds stage.

In ''[[Hyrule Warriors Legends]]'', Faron Woods appears in an additional scenario in Legend Mode, that being [[The Girl in the Green Tunic]], the first scenario in the [[Linkle's Tale]] side-arc. In it, [[Skull Kid]] repeatedly harasses [[Linkle]] as she attempts to fulfill her supposed destiny, starting with him stealing her [[compass]].
