They resemble jagged ice sculptures vaguely shaped like a tall, horned head around adult [[Link]]'s height, and shoot their icy breath from a hole on their lower half that seems to be a mouth. Some stay still, shooting cold air periodically, while others fade into existence and follow after Link, sometimes fading away to reappear elsewhere. Repeated [[sword]] strikes will gradually chip them away until they are defeated, and they can be melted instantly with [[Din's Fire]] and [[Fire Arrow]]s, the latter of which can only be obtained after the Ice Cavern is completed. Unlike most enemies, hitting them with the [[hookshot]] brings Link right to them. Additionally, they are found on certain icy floors of the [[Cave of Ordeals]]. Freezards in this game are massive and resemble multi-eyed dragons, potentially based on the [https://www.metroidwiki.org/wiki/Sheegoth Sheegoth] from ''{{wp|Metroid Prime}}''. They cannot move around, though they can pivot to face Link. They spend several seconds inhaling before breathing out a large continuous gust, and can turn at any point in the process. Additionally, their bodies are surrounded by an icy aura that freezes Link on contact. Initially to defeat them, Link must use a specifically placed [[cannon]], though once he gains the [[Ball and Chain]], he can defeat them through repeated hits from it. Once a Freezard is defeated, it splits into numerous [[Mini Freezard]]s.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes]]'', Freezards are back to their original size and general shape, though their features are now much more clearly defined into a face. They are immobile and cannot turn, and as such they function more as an obstacle than a typical enemy. They often block paths with an endless stream of icy breath, and must be melted through careful use of fireballs from the [[Fire Glove]]s. They primarily appear in the Ice Cavern, but also appear in an ice-themed portion of the [[Sky Temple]] and in the Frozen Zone of the [[Den of Trials]]. In these locations, it can be seen that other sub-weapons can defeat them as well, but take more hits. Additionally, the miniboss of the Ice Cavern is a giant Freezard named [[Freezlord]].
