The Gemesaur King is the boss of the Dark Palace in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. It is a jewel-encrusted version of the Helmasaur King from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. with powers over darkness, worshipped in fear by a group of former Lorule Soldiers. Mosaics depicting its mask can be found throughout the palace.

The Gemesaur King is summoned to its boss fight after Link lights two torches in its room, causing several other torches to light. The Gemesaur King leaps down from above and begins to slowly pursue Link. It can attack by swinging its bladed tail or by firing three simultaneous crystals forward. To damage the Gemesaur King, Link needs to lay bombs to hit its mask repeatedly. Whenever one explodes elsewhere near him, the crystals on that section of his body will shatter into Rupees. Once the mask has been damaged enough, it will explode into Rupees along with any remaining jewels on his body, revealing his weak spot as a pulsating red mass on his forehead.

At this point, the Gemesaur King will move erratically around the room, occasionally stopping to shoot a spread of five crystals at Link or bite him when nearby. After enough attacks on his forehead, the Gemesaur King will roar, putting out the lights, and charge itself with dark energy, becoming invulnerable as it charges in circles around the room. By relighting the torches, Link can return it to normal and damage it further. It repeats this process one more time, but eventually is defeated, relinquishing the portrait of Gulley from a statue of its mask.
