The '''kingdom of Hyrule''', also called '''Hyrule Kingdom''' or simply '''[[Hyrule]]''', is a divine kingdom and the main setting in most of ''[[The Legend of Zelda (series)|The Legend of Zelda]]'' games. It is the homeland of the [[Hylian]] race and is governed by a monarchy, the [[Royal Family of Hyrule]]. Besides Hylians, some other prominent inhabitants of the kingdom include [[Zora]]s, [[Goron]]s, and [[Kokiri]].

The kingdom of Hyrule guards the [[Triforce]] from evil. As a result, the kingdom is often threatened and attacked by enemy forces, usually led by [[Ganondorf]]. There have also been many conflicts between its races and inhabitants. The numerous wars in the kingdom of Hyrule introduced various traditions and legends into their culture.

The size and state of the kingdom varies between games. In most games, it is seemingly synonymous with the land of Hyrule, but in ''[[The Legend of Zelda (video game)|The Legend of Zelda]]'', the kingdom is only a small part of the land.<ref>''The Legend of Zelda'' instruction booklet, page 3.</ref> Hyrule holds numerous areas of varying climates and geographical configurations. There are also recurring locations within Hyrule such as [[Hyrule Field]], [[Gerudo Desert]], [[Zora River]], [[Kakariko Village]], and [[Death Mountain]].
