In ''The Legend of Zelda: A Link to Past'', Bomb Slugs only appear in the sixth and eighth dungeons, [[Misery Mire]] and [[Turtle Rock]] respectively. Bomb Slugs leave a trail of green [[bomb]]s behind as they move around. They are unaffected by their own bombs and ones dropped by [[Link]]. Despite being slugs, they move around quickly. Bomb Slugs can be defeated if Link strikes them twice with his [[Master Sword]], although one strike from the [[Master Sword Lv2|Tempered Sword]] or [[Master Sword Lv3|Golden Sword]] can instantly defeat a Bomb Slug. If Link touches a Bomb Slug, he takes four [[heart]]s of damage, although their bombs only do one heart of damage.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap]]'', Sluggulas are much weaker and have been reduced to [[Minish]] size. Link encounters them in [[Deepwood Shrine]] and the [[Temple of Droplets]]. Sluggulas act more like regular slugs than in their first appearance, because they do not drop bombs and move very slowly while leaving behind a trail of slime. If Link touches a Sluggula, he takes quarter of a heart in damage.

In some areas, including a few where Link has to cross the water on a [[lily pad]], Sluggulas drop from the ceiling when Link passes under them. Their fall is indicated by their shadow, just like [[Wallmaster (The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past)|Wallmaster]]s. Sluggulas always fall upside-down and land on their back. If a Sluggula hits the ground, it wiggles on its back, with its gray belly exposed, for a few seconds before turning upright. Sluggulas cannot swim, so if they drop into the water, they drown. Link can defeat a Sluggula by slashing it twice with the [[Smith's Sword]], or once if the Sluggula's underbelly is exposed.

There is only one in [[Thieves' Hideout (The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds)|Thieves' Hideout]], and some more are found in a dark room of the [[Treacherous Tower]], making it possible to defeat them without even seeing them. Sluggulas retain their behavior and physical appearance from ''The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past'', though they now clearly produce the bombs from a hole in their backsides.
