In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past]]'', pike-wielding soldiers appear in green and red. Green ones appear in [[Kakariko Village]] if one of the two women who believe Link to have kidnapped [[Princess Zelda]] spot him, prompting her to call for a soldier. The summoned soldier will chase him incessantly until it is defeated or Link leaves the village. Red ones, which chase extremely quickly and aggressively, first appear in the upper levels of [[Hyrule Castle]], and later appear throughout [[Hyrule]] once [[Agahnim]] sends Link to the [[pyramid]].

Spear-throwing soldiers also have two varieties, both of which are red. One type hides in the tall grass around the outside of Hyrule Castle, where it jumps out and throws a spear at Link before hiding again. This type has basic armor. The other type is found in Hyrule Castle itself (with one also appearing in the [[cemetary]]), and chase after Link while throwing spears. This type uses the horned helmet design.

All four types have a trident-like blade at the end of their weapons. In the [[Dark World]], [[Taros|Moblin Pikemen]] act as an analog to the charging type and [[Moblin]]s act as one to the aggressive throwing type. In the Japanese version and all versions of ''[[The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords]]'', an indigo-colored spear soldier appears with Agahnim in the intro, though it is replaced with an indigo sword soldier in Western versions of the Super Nintendo edition.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds]]'', the charging Spear Soldiers again appear in green and red. This time, the charging red ones have the horned helmet design. Both have trident-like spears and small shields. A group of red ones released directly by [[Yuga]] midway up inside Hyrule Castle charge far more aggressively than others, similar to the horned indigo Sword Soldiers from ''A Link to the Past'', though on revisits to this room they act as normal. Green ones are fairly common across Hyrule, while red ones only appear at Hyrule Castle.

Spear Throwing Soldiers have a single variety in this game, which has red basic armor but is found out in the open. It is less aggressive than the ones in ''A Link to the Past'', backing away from Link like the [[Bow Guard|Bow Soldier]]s. The spears they throw slowly descend, limiting their range when on Link's level. As such, they are sometimes stationed on high platforms over him. The spears they carry have only a single wide point.

Once again, [[Taros]] and Moblins act as analogs, now in [[Lorule]]. In [[Lorule Castle]], one type of [[Lorule Soldier]] also acts like Spear Soldiers.
