'''Talon''' is the owner of [[Lon Lon Ranch]] and the father of [[Malon]]. His first and main appearance is in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time]]'', and Talon has a minor role in a few of the later ''[[The Legend of Zelda (series)|The Legend of Zelda]]'' games.

Talon's appearance is based on [[mariowiki:Mario|Mario]], the titular character of the ''[[mariowiki:Mario (franchise)|Mario]]'' franchise, like how [[Ingo]] resembles [[mariowiki:Luigi|Luigi]] from the same franchise. He and Malon both wear a gold pendant of [[mariowiki:Bowser|Bowser]]'s face. Like Mario, Talon wears blue overalls, a red shirt, and brown shoes. Talon is large and muscular. He has a brown mustache, arm hair, and some hair on the back of his head. In ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'', Talon is shown to mostly be lazy and often falls asleep. His farmhand, Ingo, is usually responsible for all the hard work, so as a result, Ingo has a disdain toward Talon. 

Talon is first mentioned by Malon at the [[Hyrule Castle Town|Market]]. She tells [[Link]] that her dad, Talon, went to deliver [[Lon Lon Milk|milk]] to [[Hyrule Castle]] but has not returned. On the path to Hyrule Castle, Link encounters Malon again. She believes that Talon fell asleep on the way, and Malon gives a [[Weird Egg]] to Link (which soon hatches into a [[Cucco]]). Talon is found sleeping to the right of Hyrule Castle. Link must awaken Talon by using the Cucco. When Talon wakes up, he realizes that he overslept and that Malon was looking for him. Talon hurries back to Malon, believing that she is upset.

At Lon Lon Ranch, Link can enter Talon's house, where he finds Talon sleeping around with several Cuccos. When Link talks to Talon, he wakes up, telling Link that he got Malon back into a good mood after some effort. He then offers Link to play a minigame for 10 [[Rupee]]s, where Talon throws three "Special Cuccos" into the crowd with the other Cuccos. If Link catches all three within the time limit, Talon rewards him with a [[bottle]] of Lon Lon Milk.

During the time when Link is an adult, Ingo was granted ownership of Lon Lon Ranch by [[Ganondorf]], and Talon was kicked out. Ever since, Talon has taken refuge in a house within [[Kakariko Village]]. Talon is asleep on a bed in the house, and Link can awaken him with the [[Pocket Cucco]]. Doing so is optional due to it being part of the [[trading sequence]], and it allows Link to exchange the Pocket Cucco for [[Cojiro]] from the [[Cucco Lady]].

After winning a horse race against Ingo, Talon moves back into Lon Lon Ranch, and Ingo returns to being his servant. Talon declares that he will "turn a new leaf" and start working hard around Lon Lon Ranch. Ever since, Talon and Ingo appear to be back on good terms, and they are seen dancing together during the ending sequence.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons]]'', Talon was designed to more closely resemble Mario, as shown from his artwork. Talon is wearing red long sleeves that cover his arms, white gloves, and a blue hat on his head, which has a small, red "M" on it, similar to [[mariowiki:Mario Cap|Mario's cap]]. He is also wearing a yellow scarf and retains his Bowser medallion. A few of Talon's characteristics are reused from Tarin, such as Talon wearing a brown backpack on his back, and his in-game sprite resembling that of Tarin's for ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX]]''.

Talon and Malon live in a chicken house to the north of [[Horon Village]]. Sometime during Link's adventure, Talon falls asleep while climbing [[Mt. Cucco]]. As part of the optional [[trading sequence]], Link can use the [[Megaphone]] to wake up Talon. By doing so, he thanks Link and rewards him with a [[Mushroom]].

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures]]'', Talon appears near the beginning of [[the Field]]. Once the Links escort Malon home, he thanks them by allowing them [[horse]]s to ride. He states that he is too scared to leave his home due to all the rogue [[Guard (enemy)|Soldier]]s outside.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap]]'', like their debut appearance, Talon and Malon live on Lon Lon Ranch. During the game's events, Talon and Malon are locked out of their house due to losing the house key. Link must use a [[Portal (The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap)|portal]] to shrink himself and retrieve the [[Lon Lon Ranch key]] inside their house. After doing so, Talon and Malon go inside the house, and Link can go through the house to access [[Lake Hylia]]. Like other characters in the game, Link can fuse [[Kinstone]]s with Talon.

==Trivia==
*In ''The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time'', Talon's sleeping pose is the same as Mario's in ''[[mariowiki:Super Mario 64|Super Mario 64]]''.
*In the same game, if Link talks to Talon while wearing a [[Gerudo Mask]] or [[Goron Mask]], Talon says it reminds him of his wife, before suddenly saying he is not reminded at all. Talon's wife is never shown, and her fate is unknown.
