The Legend of Zelda: Revengeance
The Legend of Zelda: Revengeance is an upcoming game scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch in the holiday season of 2020 to hold fans over before the release of Breath of the Wild 2: A Link to the Timeline. It is set in the universe of the Zelda trilogy on the Phillips CD-i, now officially referred to as the Sixth Timeline to coincide with the retconning of the Four Swords subseries as the Fourth and Tingle as the Fifth. Revengeance, named after Metal Gear Rising, is set either before the Fall of Tolemac or disregards those events entirely.

Revengeance, the personal project of Eiji Aonuma, is a 2D action game in the vein of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, though with the platforming aspects of Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon. It features aspects of the other Sixth Timeline games, but with the "modern sensibilities" of more recent Zelda titles. The game also comes with updated versions of the original two games, now in HD quality.

Plot
While most of the plot remains shrouded in mystery, the series' lore has been finally established.

The Faces of Evil
After a diplomatic mission overseas, the young Hyrulean war hero Link returns to his homeland. Not quite used to the peaceful life that Hyrule has returned to, King Harkinian reminds him of the Hylian Code: "Peace is what all true warriors strive for." Link, however, is concerned regarding the whereabouts of the war criminal Ganondorf Dragmire. His question is answered when a distressed wizard named Gwonam arrives at Hyrule Castle. Gwonam, a nobleman from the small nation of Koridai, pleads for Hyrulean assistance, as Ganondorf has seized control of the land and is now developing nuclear weapons. Harkinian, puzzled as how to respond, is warned by Gwonam of an ancient prophecy written by the Koridians: "Only Link can defeat Ganon." Link is quick to volunteer for the mission, though Gwonam warns him of the urgency and that only basic weapons are required, as he knows the rest can be bought from a salesman in Goronu named Morshu. With that, Link begins his sneaking mission in Koridai.

During the flight, Link is briefed on the matter: Ganon has placed his subordinates, the Faces, in charge of the nation's provinces. Link is tasked with assassinating the Faces and eliminating Ganondorf once and for all. Link races to the scene. After stocking up on arms from Morshu, Link sets off to bring an end to Ganon's reign. While he is overseas, Link is alerted by Gwonam of a distress call: Security camera footage caught Ganondorf Dragmire himself kidnapping Princess Zelda and challenging Link to rescue her. Motivated, Link continues his mission. One by one, Link tracks down and kills the enemy generals. After achieving the legendary power to see Gwonam's house, Link finally begins the assault on Ganon. Though Ganon tries to reason with Link, demanding that he join him or be terminated, Link has the ancient Book of Koridai on his side, which he promptly uses to warp Ganon to the Pit That Burns. After rescuing Princess Zelda, Link and the others return to Hyrule, with peace finally being restored to Koridai.

The Wand of Gamelon
The peace doesn't last, however. A message from Duke Onkled of Gamelon alerts Harkinian of Ganon's return and war against Gamelon. The Triforce of Wisdom advises that Ganon's army has grown significantly since the recent Koridian Seizure. Knowing that there is no other option, the King sets sail in the morning to aid Duke Onkled against the evil forces of Ganon using diplomacy. One month later, without any contact from Harkinian, Link is dispatched to Gamelon to rescue him, despite saying himself that "Ganon's no match for the King!" When Link also disappears, Princess Zelda awakens Impa in the night for a stealth mission in Gamelon. It isn't long before Zelda learns of Harkinian's capture and the disappearance of Link following a battle. After battling Ganon's minions, Zelda rescues Lady Alma, who reveals that Link had an affair with her.

At Domodai Palace, after killing Ganon's servant Hectan, Duke Onkled's aid, the Spaniard Lord Kiro, reveals that Duke Onkled betrayed King Harkinian and gave up his country to Ganondorf out of cowardice. After kidnapping Duke Onkled, he gives Dragmire's whereabouts to our heroes. Zelda, armed with the Wand of Gamelon, makes here way to Reesong Palace to confront Ganon. Using the Wand, Zelda defeats Ganon and seals him in the Book of Koridai once more, presumably returning him to the Pit That Burns. Zelda, Impa, Harkinian, Onkled, Kiro, and Alma return to Hyrule Castle. Onkled is charged with treason and sentenced to scrubbing all the floors in Hyrule for eternity. Zelda, fed up with Alma's vanity, shatters her hand mirror, revealing Link trapped within. With Alma revealed to have seduced and captured Link, she is sentenced to scrubbing the floors alongside Onkled, ending the Gamelonian War.
