The '''Wind Fish''' is a large, deity-like whale and a character in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening]]''. He rests in an [[Wind Fish's Egg|egg]] on the top of [[Mt. Tamaranch]] on [[Koholint Island]].

The Wind Fish has light green skin, a small pair of wings, and wears exotic-patterned clothing around his body. There are three gemstones that are horizontally lined across from the left side of his body. Despite having "{{wp|fish}}" in its name, whales are classified as mammals.

In ''The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening'', shortly after [[Link]] begins his adventure, an [[owl]] appears to Link and tells him that he cannot leave Koholint Island unless he awakens the Wind Fish, which is done by gathering all eight [[Instruments of the Sirens]].

In the [[Ancient Ruins (The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening)|Ancient Ruins]], Link reads a mural that reveals that Koholint Island only exists within the Wind Fish's dreams, and that if the Wind Fish were to awaken, Koholint Island would vanish in its entirety. After reading the mural, the owl appears to Link to tell him that the legend is a myth, and that only the Wind Fish knows the true answer.

Link eventually obtains the eight Instruments of the Sirens goes to the [[Wind Fish's Egg]], and plays the [[Ballad of the Wind Fish]], a melody intended for awakening the Wind Fish. By playing the tune, the Wind Fish's Egg cracks open. Inside, Link encounters the final boss, the [[Nightmare]]s, who confirm that Koholint Island is a dream world and that they put the Wind Fish into an endless slumber so that they could rule over Koholint Island. This also explains how enemies have appeared all over Koholint Island.

Once Link has defeated the Nightmares, a ladder leading up to the Wind Fish appears. As Link climbs the ladder, the owl appears again and reveals himself to be the guardian of the Wind Fish's dreams. He congratulates Link for defeating the nightmares and says one last goodbye to him. The Wind Fish then wakes up and instructs Link to play the Ballad of the Wind Fish, causing Koholint Island to vanish, just as legend had stated. However, the Wind Fish tells Link that the dream world will continue to exist in his memories. Once awoken, Link finds himself floating on the ship wreckage in the middle of the sea. Link hears a noise, and he looks up to see the Wind Fish. Link smiles as he watches him fly away.

In ''[[Hyrule Warriors]]'', the Wind Fish is included as a part of the [[Link's Awakening Pack]]. He is a part of [[Marin]]'s [[Bell (Hyrule Warriors)|Bell]] moveset, and when summoned, the Wind Fish does a large belly flop onto the enemies in front of Marin.

Like ''The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening'', the goal of the Koholint Island [[Adventure Mode]] map is to awaken the Wind Fish, which is done by using the eight Instruments of the Sirens [[Item Card]]s.

The Link's Awakening Pack also includes Wind Fish recolors for [[Lana]] and [[Cia]]'s [[Standard Outfit]]s. These can be unlocked on the Koholint Island map. Lana has only one outfit, "Standard Outfit (Koholint)", and Cia has three: Masked (Koholint), Unmasked (Koholint), and Hatless (Koholint).
