In both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Whisps appear as rare dungeon enemies and use the original Bubble sprite, albeit solely using the game's red palette. They stand in for normal Bubbles due to Bubbles instead using the diagonal bouncing behavior debuting in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Whisps move around in straight vertical and horizontal lines erratically, moving along and off the edges of walls, and curse Link upon contact, causing him to be unable to use his sword. In the former game, they appear in the Explorer's Crypt and the Sword & Shield Dungeon, while in the latter game, they appear in Unicorn's Cave and Jabu Jabu's Belly. Depending on the game, either Dr. Left or Dr. Troy has a hint about their curses. They are invincible, though the effects of their curses can be negated by wearing the Whisp Ring. Unlike Bubbles and Sparks, they cannot be destroyed by the boomerang or any other item.
