'''Yook''' are a large species of ape-like creature found on the [[Isle of Frost]] in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass]]''. Due to a generations-long feud with the island's other inhabitants, the [[Anouki]] tribe, the Yook live on the eastern half of the island, in the [[Great Ice Field]]. They also stole the [[Azurine]] from the Anouki long ago. Most Yook are white-furred, though mahogany-furred ones appear as well. Yook wield clubs and also have powerful, frosty breath.

[[Link]] first hears about the Yook from the [[Island Chief]], who tells Link a Yook has infiltrated the [[Anouki Estates]] and as posing as one of the inhabitants. He also tells him Yook always lie. The Yook, who is the brown-furred one, ends up being disguised as [[Aroo]], and threatens to eat [[Ciela]] before blowing the two out of the house. The Island Chief then tries to goad Link into getting revenge on the Yook, and regardless of his response Ciela eagerly accepts.

Six white Yook can be found on the Great Ice Field, guarding the path to the [[Ice Temple|Temple of Ice]]. They generally do not go after Link unless he is really close. They can use their clubs as a weapon, but usually inhale deeply before blowing out a sharp, damaging gust of air to attack. A worn-down pedestal in the cave connecting the two sides of the island recommends throwing something into their mouths while they inhale; this turns out to be [[bomb]]s or [[Bomb Flower]]s. However, throwing one in is complicated by the random powerful wind gusts on the field, which can blow in any direction, cause thrown bombs to travel far off course, and push Link. After a Yook has been fed a bomb, it gets stunned, and Link can defeat it with a few swings of his [[sword]]. Once all six are defeated, the way to the temple entrance opens, and the winds stop. The Yook respawn if Link leaves and returns, though the winds do not start up again.

Outside the temple entrance, they are accosted by a brown one (possibly the one from before) as part of a miniboss battle. For the most part, he acts like the other ones and even has the same amount of health, but is much more focused with pursuing Link, uses his club in several consecutive strikes while moving forward, and has freezing breath. Once defeated, the temple itself opens. Midway through, a brown and a white one attack Link together as another miniboss battle, both following him insistently. Once they are defeated, Link gains the [[grappling hook]]. He can use it to pull the tongues of several statues of Yook in the temple, acting as levers. Later in the temple, more Yook appear as minibosses, with a white one appearing alongside a [[Zol]] in a small battlefield and a brown one appearing alongside two [[Ice Keese]].

The Yook can again be found in the Great Ice Field after the temple is completed. They now act friendly to Link, having apparently been under mind control before, and apologize if they attempted to eat him.
