Additionally, strong weapons can defeat ''The Legend of Zelda''-style Zols in one hit. In ''Link's Awakening DX'', the ''The Legend of Zelda''-style ones are red and the ''A Link to the Past''-style ones are green. [[Slime Eye]] is a giant Zol boss who drops several ''A Link to the Past''-style ones immediately before his fight. In ''[[Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer featuring The Legend of Zelda]]'', Zols of various colors appear as common enemies, with a design and behavior inspired by the Slimes in the original ''{{wp|Crypt of the NecroDancer}}''. Depending on the color, they may wobble in place to the beat or move vertically a small amount of spaces. When defeated, they usually split into Gels, which depending on the color and amount of space can vary from one to four. Some [[Secret Cave]] and [[Temple of Brainstorms]] room layouts feature a metallic gray one that does not split and can only be defeated with specific weapons, though it too is motionless and is instead used as part of a puzzle. Rarely, two blue or white Zols can be found conjoined by a tendril of slime that causes them to together resemble a barred pair of {{wp|eighth note}}s, moving by spinning around each other. Attacking them causes the Zols to separate.

In the future Hyrule, a transparent, colorless type called the [[Phasing Zol]] appears in [[Death Mountain]].
