Hylians are the main race in the Legend of Zelda series. Many of the major characters, including the main protagonist, fall under this species.
History
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The first game where the idea of Hylians are introduced. In it, two of those deemed worthy by the Triforce are Hylian, Link and Zelda.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
When searching for Zelda, Ganondorf kidnaps maidens exclusively with pointed ears, knowing that she has Hylian heritage.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
In The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Hylians were the first race to establish civilization in Hyrule. When the goddess Hylia took on a mortal form, she choes to live among the Hylians. Because of their close relationship to Hylia, it is said that their long ears are intended to hear the voice of the goddess.
