Overall though, BowWow seems specific to ''Zelda'' like the modern usage of Podoboo (for the record, it seems like Podoboo doesn't have a figure in the Switch remake, and neither do the Thwomps - instead, CiaoCiao has one despite being original to the game). Wait so BowWow is going to be on same page as Chain Chomp? Shouldn't it be distinguished from the Chain Chomp enemies from ALttP? Results May Vary (talk) 13:13, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Chain Chomp and BowWow have the same Japanese name, with the latter being a more literal translation, and Four Swords uses either one depending on the version. Madame MeowMeow also refers to it as "my" BowWow, suggesting there's more than one, and the collectible figure in the remake is called a BowWow figure. So they're equivalent to each other; what I'm unsure about is if the article title should be BowWow, since it's technically more recent as far as the Zelda series goes and I don't recall where else Chain Chomp is used besides Four Swords Anniversary Edition. Based on what you've told me, I think the article title should remain Chain Chomp (with BowWow as a redirect) since I think we agreed that they are the same as the Mario Chain Chomps. Link's Awakening seems to be a unique case where they are named BowWow. What confused me is it BowWow was the name of the species or the character in Link's Awakening Results May Vary (talk) 14:38, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
Thing is though, Lava Bubble is a Mario entity too and, while I don't know what they call it in LANS, they call it "Podoboo" as recently as CoH. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:12, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
That's right. I also don't see it referenced by name in the A Link to the Past Player's Guide, but it's called "BowWow" on page 107 of the A Link to the Past/Four Swords Player's Guide and "Chain Chomp" on page 62 of the Four Swords Adventures Player's Guide. It's also mentioned as "Chain Chomp" in a Hyrule Warriors Nintendo Direct, but I don't know about the game itself. Overall though, BowWow seems specific to Zelda like the modern usage of Podoboo (for the record, it seems like Podoboo doesn't have a figure in the Switch remake, and neither do the Thwomps - instead, CiaoCiao has one despite being original to the game).
