Sheik is an alter-ego of Princess Zelda that first appears in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is a disguise where Zelda assumes the form of a Sheikah and with the characteristics of a ninja. Sheik wears a form-fitting blue suit with a red Sheikah eye in the center. Sheik has blonde hair, which overlaps the left eye, and a red eye color. Sheik has a harp for a signature instrument. Depending on the game, Sheik's build varies between looking masculine or feminine, commonly looking androgynous.

Despite only appearing in one The Legend of Zelda game, Sheik is prominent in the Super Smash Bros. series, starting with Super Smash Bros. Melee, where Sheik is a playable transformation of Zelda. Starting with Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Sheik became a standalone playable character, as well as in the Hyrule Warriors games. In all of these appearances barring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Sheik is referred to as female and is given a more feminine design, with the Hyrule Warriors iteration simply resembling a red-eyed Zelda in different clothing.
