Bots are blue gelatinous blobs[1] and common enemies that only appear in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. They behave similarly to their red counterpart, Bits, except that Bots have the ability to jump. Both enemies are among the weakest ones that Link encounters during his adventure.

Bots appear throughout the plains and caves of Western Hyrule and at Death Mountain. When Link approaches a Bot, it attempts to jump at him. He can defeat a Bot by striking his Magical Sword at it. It originally takes two hits to defeat, but if Link gains enough Experience for his first Attack upgrade, he can defeat a Bot in one hit. In the caverns, some Bots fall from ceiling as a drop, and upon landing on the ground, the Bot forms into its usual shape. If Link defeats a Bot, it may either drop a blue Magic Jar or a 50 EXP Treasure Bag. Link can acquire 2 EXP by defeating a Bot.

One of the Spell magic's purposes is transforming other enemies into Bots.

Variants

There are darker blue Bots that appear in the first five Palaces. Aside from having a different color, these Bots do not act any different from normal Bots.

In the Great Palace, Link fights a few Boss Bots, which are a fusion of Bots. When Link attacks a Boss Bot, it splits apart into five dark blue Bots. They are stronger than ordinary Bots and require numerous hits from Link. If Link's Attack is at Level 8, he can defeat these Bots with two hits. Link receives 10 EXP for each of the stronger Bots that he defeats.

In the Water Town of Saria, Link can find a purple Bot sleeping in Bagu's house. This Bot is not an enemy, unlike the others. When Link talks to the purple Bot, it wakes up and reveals the location of his "master", Bagu, who is at North of River.
