Welcome and regarding Encyclopedia[edit]
Welcome! We don't use Encyclopedia for a number of reasons, which can be summed up by it being a poor translation using wikis as sources and the original being written by a fancrufty fan magazine (Nintendo Dream) with no direct involvement from Nintendo, to the point of outright contradicting in-game details. Basically, it's just not a good source for anything in that regard, unfortunately. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 08:52, 13 January 2021 (MST)
- Apologies. Argentum Kurodil (talk) 05:48, 15 January 2021 (MST)
- Don't worry about it. Also, about character races, those sometimes change depending on the game. A good example are Malon and Talon, who sometimes (such as OoT) are Hylians, while other times (such as OoS) are ordinary humans. As for Sheik, the Hyrule Warriors iteration seems to really be just a clothing change (not to mention Impa can tell Sheik is faking), and as such no more a "real" Sheikah than Link in the Garo's Mask is a real Garo. It's a bit ambiguous, admittedly, but I'd like to keep it open-ended in such a case. As for the Rosso thing, the implication is there even if it does seem rather odd, but we don't and probably never will know how Goron reproduction works. Anyways, don't worry, I'm glad you're here, and thanks for that bit about Impa and Purah's relation. I'd forgotten that when I initially wrote the page and was reminded of it by Age of Calamity, but hadn't put it down yet. On that subject, we currently treat Hyrule Historia and Creating a Champion as valid sources (primarily for conceptual information), as they had more direct involvement from Nintendo and the former at least had a translator on staff who is known to not just phone things in. In fact, I actually have added the note from the latter about Gerudo ears to their page. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:33, 15 January 2021 (MST)
