Six white Yook can be found on the Great Ice Field, guarding the path to the [[Temple of Ice]]. They generally do not go after Link unless he is really close. They can use their clubs as a weapon, but usually inhale deeply before blowing out a sharp, damaging gust of air to attack. However, throwing one in is complicated by the random powerful wind gusts on the field, which can cause thrown bombs to travel far off course and push Link. After a Yook has been fed a bomb, it gets stunned, and Link can defeat it with a few swings of his [[sword]]. Once all six are defeated, the way to the temple entrance opens, and the winds stop.

Yook are a large species of ape-like creature found on the Isle of Frost in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Due to a generations-long feud with the island's other inhabitants, the Anouki tribe, the Yook live on the eastern half of the island, in the Great Ice Field. They also stole the Azurine from the Anouki long ago. Most Yook are white-furred, though a mahogany-furred one appears as well. Yook wield clubs and also have powerful breath.

Link first hears about the Yook from the Island Chief, who tells Link a Yook has infiltrated the Anouki Estates and as posing as one of the inhabitants. He also tells him Yook always lie. The Yook, who is the brown-furred one, ends up being disguised as Aroo, and threatens to eat Ciela before blowing the two out of the house. The Island Chief then tries to goad Link into getting revenge on the Yook, and regardless of his response Ciela eagerly accepts.

After a Yook has been fed a bomb, it gets stunned, and Link can defeat it with a few swings of his sword. Once all six are defeated, the way to the temple entrance opens, and the winds stop.

Outside the temple entrance, they are accosted by the brown one again as part of a miniboss battle. Aside from being more aggressive in pursuing, he is functionally identical to the others. Once defeated, the temple itself opens.

After the temple is completed, the Yook return to the Great Ice Field. They now act friendly to Link, having apparently been under mind control before, and apologize if they attempted to eat him.
