Chuchus are jelly-like monsters often depicted with big, blank eyes. They come in many colors, and even sometimes have been shown to don armor. When defeated, Chuchus often leave a colorful glob of slime in their wake, known as Chu Jelly, which can be scooped up into a Bottle and consumed.

Although oftentimes only the base Chuchu is shown, there are many kinds of Rare Chuchus that appear in the games. For example, there are some that can transform into spikes, metal or ice.

Due to the vulnerable nature of Chuchus, they may often don rocks or other armor as a means of protecting themselves.

History

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Chuchus are slightly different in the alternate world of Termina, with them having different faces and their bodies being completely transparent, allowing others to see the contents inside their stomachs. The color tint changes in response to what item they are holding in their belly. For example, a Heart turns them red and a Magic Jar turns them green.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Chuchus are also a regular occurence in this game, although they have a much more cutesy design to fit the style.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

In The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Chuchus are a commonplace enemy. However, there is one Chuchu who appears larger due to the fact that Link is very small known as the Big Chuchu.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, not only are Chuchus a regular enemy, the Chu Jelly they drop is very valuable and can be sold for a high price, especially when it is from a Rare Chu.

The colors of the Chuchus in this game can combine as well, with Red and Green making Purple and Blue and Yellow making Green. Green Chu Jelly in particular fetches a very high price.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Chuchus appear to be mounds of lava with mouths in this game, and are a commonplace enemy.
