Nintendo 3DS is a handheld video game console developed and distributed by Nintendo. Originally released in March 2011, it is a direct follow-up to the Nintendo DS. Besides having all the features present in the Nintendo DSi, the Nintendo 3DS also has improved hardware, a circle pad built into the system and the gimmick of glasses-free stereoscopic 3D visuals.
The Nintendo 3DS had five major revisions. The first one is the Nintendo 3DS XL, which has bigger screens and a longer battery life. Next one was the Nintendo 2DS, which removed the 3D option and the clamshell design. Next were the Nintendo New 3DS and Nintendo New 3DS XL, which featured improved hardware, a proper C-stick was only available as an add-on prior, and some exclusive titles only playable on these versions. Lastly was the Nintendo New 2DS XL, which is the New 3DS hardware without the 3D.
