Nintendo 3DS is a handheld video game console developed and distributed by Nintendo. Originally released in 2011, it is a direct sequel to the Nintendo DS. Alongside having all the features present in the Nintendo DSi, it also has improved hardware, a circle pad built into the system and the gimmick of glasses-free stereoscopic 3D visuals. The system saw 5 major revisions. First is the 3DS XL, which had bigger screens and some quality of life updates. Next was the Nintendo 2DS, which removed the 3D option and the clamshell design. Next were the New 3DS and New 3DS XL, which featured improved hardware, a proper C-stick was only available as an add-on prior, and some exclusive titles only playable on these versions. Lastly was the New 2DS XL, which was the New 3DS hardware without the 3D.

2 mainline entries in The Legend of Zelda series debuted on this system, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, remakes of the Nintendo 64 originals also debuted on this system. Hyrule Warriors Legends is a demade version of Hyrule Warriors made for the system. The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons were made available for purchase on the 3DS eshop. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was only made available for New 3DS owners. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap was only made available on the system for those in the 3DS Ambassador Program.
