Wall Masters[1] (or Wallmasters[2]) are blue hand enemies found in the labyrinths of The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System, first found in the room before Aquamentus in the Eagle labyrinth. While later games additionally include hands known as Wallmasters in English, in the original Japanese, the later ones are differentiated as "Fallmasters." Wall Masters attack by emerging from walls, grabbing Link if they touch him, before sending him back to the entrance of the dungeon. In prototype sprites, they lack the spots on their backs.
A Wall Master appears in one story of Nintendo Comics System, where Link pushes Princess Zelda into one so she can escape danger.
Wall Masters[3] appear in the Philips CD-i games, Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon. In these appearances, they remain clenched in one spot in the background and will grab Link or Zelda and drain their health if they approach. They can be defeated with a bomb or sufficient sword slashes.
An early prototype screenshot for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time shows Link encountering what appears to be one of these Wall Masters, notably only having four fingers instead of five like in their original appearance. However, in the final, they are instead replaced by the enemy from The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, which has since become a series mainstay.
