Astor is the main antagonist for the majority of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. He is a mad prophet who worships Calamity Ganon and seeks to ensure its success. Thanks to a shred of Calamity Ganon's malice coming to the past and creating Harbinger Ganon, Astor believes it is his destiny to bring about the Great Calamity himself. For the majority of the game, Astor works from the shadows, only confiding in the Yiga tribe and Harbinger Ganon itself. However, he uses his powers to summon malice and Hollows. When Link pulls the Master Sword, Astor faces him directly, but is beaten. Despite this, the Great Calamity ends up occuring early regardless.
It is revealed in a scene shortly thereafter that Astor's malice-summons are powered by the life energy of Yiga Footsoldiers he sacrifices, and he prepares to sacrifice Master Kohga and Sooga as well; however, the former manages to successfully flee thanks to Sooga buying him time, and ends up joining the heroes. For the remainder of the game, Astor remains in the fallen Hyrule Castle. Once the heroes storm the castle, Astor and Harbinger Ganon face them. However, once Astor outright commands Harbinger Ganon to attack the heroes, it instead consumes him as punishment for his insolence and failures, forming a humanoid body for Calamity Ganon.
Despite being an important character and functioning as a warrior, Astor was never made playable, unlike the villains of the original Hyrule Warriors
