Armored Trains (spelled Armoured Trains in British English releases) are a more dangerous form of Dark Train, seeking out the Spirit Train on the Spirit Tracks.
History[edit]
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, an Armored Train initially appears in the underwater portion of the Ocean Realm, spawning in front of the Ocean Temple. It attempts to destroy the Spirit Train, but gets delayed by a Dark Train appearing and accidentally blocking it. Later, they can be found in certain parts of the overworld. Armored Trains are primarily gray, with the front plating resembling a medieval helmet. Additionally, their fire and exhaust pipes glow purple instead of red.
Unlike Dark Trains, Armored Trains actively pursue the Spirit Train, switching course or even turning around on their bases as needed. However, they are slightly slower than Dark Trains, but still faster than the Spirit Train. Furthermore, because of their armor, their fires cannot be put out; shooting them with the cannon jostles and slows them for a second, but otherwise has no effect. The only way to evade them is to go onto tracks they cannot or get them stuck hitting a Dark Train, forcing them both to turn around. Like Dark Trains, getting hit by one is an immediate Game Over.
At the first portion of the Dark Realm, a group of Armored Trains roam and must be harmlessly destroyed by using the Tears of Light. However, they become increasingly aggressive as more of them are defeated.
Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
Armored Trains appear as stage hazards in both Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Spirit Train stage. Like Dark Trains in these games, they simply push the train towards the edge of the screen rather than destroy it. The former game also gives them a trophy.
