- “From here on, we'll be sharing the tracks with other trains. Keep an eye on the map, and make sure you choose the correct tracks!”
- – Alfonzo, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Trains are the primary method of transportation across the Spirit Tracks in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. They appear as obstacles to Link when he is operating Alfonzo's train at the beginning of the game. Unlike the trains he drives in the game, these trains appear as blue gilded trolley-type engines. Link needs to watch the paths of three trains to avoid running into them on his way to Castle Town. Once the Forest Temple is cleared, two empty trains sit at different points on the track in the field. When the Spirit Train enters the field from the forest, an evil spirit resembling the ones that mark the appearances of Phantoms descends into each, transforming them into the aggressive Dark Trains, which are common rail enemies for the rest of the game.
