First appearance | The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks |
Variant of | Octive |
Ergtoroks[1] are a tan, sand-inhabiting version of Octive in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, appearing in the Sand Temple. Their name is a reference to ergs, those being giant sand dune seas. Compared to normal Octives, Ergtoroks display more intelligence, popping up in different locations (marked beforehand by small sand clouds) and immediately diving under if Link tries to use a projectile or deflect theirs. To defeat them, Link needs to use the Sand Wand when they are pushing up sand clouds, forcing them out and stunning them. They are also physically tougher than Octives, as they have two hit points instead of just one.
Ergtoroks only begin appearing once the Sand Wand is obtained. Initially, a group appears as normal enemies in a room that previously contained Stalfos, and later, another group appears as a miniboss encounter guarding the room the Boss Key is held in.
