Boko Babas are a type of large, colorful Deku Baba in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. They are found primarily around the shore of the Forest Haven and within the Forbidden Woods. They hide within their orange-tinted Baba Buds until Link approaches, at which point they will emerge and begin attacking. Like normal Deku Babas, they bite at Link, though if one licks its lips, it will instead attempt to pull him into its mouth. If this happens, it will chew on him for a bit before spitting him back out. Additionally, they can dodge Link's attacks by briefly hiding in their buds again.

Like previous depictions of Deku Babas, attacking the head causes them to stand fully upright, allowing their stem to be easily sliced. Even if this is not done, a defeated Boko Baba will always leave behind its brittle stem as a Boko Stick. Sometimes, they may also drop a Boko Baba Seed, which can be stolen without defeating them by hitting them with the grappling hook. In certain places, their Baba Bud will be replaced by a usable, blue-tinted Baba Bud.

Trivia[edit]

  • Hollo claims that Boko Babas cannot be found at the Forest Haven, so Link should search in the Forbidden Woods. While it is true they are not inside of the haven itself, they still appear around its outskirts and will be encountered when climbing to the enclosed portion.
