Aryll is the younger sister of Link in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. She lives on Outset Island with Link and their grandma. Aryll has her own lookout tower, Aryll's Lookout, which is her favorite place to gaze at the Great Sea.
History[edit]
The Legend of Zelda series[edit]
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker[edit]
At the start of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Aryll lends her Telescope to Link as a birthday present. He looks from it, and he and Aryll notice a large bird, the Helmaroc King, carrying a young girl, named Tetra, in its talons. The bird accidentally drops her into the forest, and Aryll urges Link to rescue her. After rescuing Tetra, the Helmaroc King notices Aryll, and it abducts her and flies away to the Forsaken Fortress. Link convinces Tetra and her pirate crew to go after the Helmaroc King, starting his adventure to rescue Aryll.
After traveling up the Forsaken Fortress, Link finds Aryll in a room, locked in a cage with other small girls. They are briefly reunited, but the Helmaroc King appears and launches Link far off into the Great Sea. Link survives and perseveres with his adventure, gaining items and weapons, before returning to the Forsaken Fortress to reattempt rescuing Aryll.
On his second visit to the Forsaken Fortress, right before facing the Helmaroc King, Link successfully rescues Aryll and the other girls. Tetra and her pirates decide to take the girls with them, and Tetra promises to return Aryll to Outset Island. For the rest of Link's adventure, Aryll explores the Great Sea with the pirates.
Aryl is last seen during the end credits, returning home to Outset Island with Link. Aryll and the others on Outset Island wave goodbye as Link, Tetra, and the pirates start another journey to search for new lands.
Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there is both a trophy and a Sticker of Aryll. The sticker is usable by any character, and it increases their resistance to electric-based attacks.
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, a different Trophy of Aryll is featured.
Hyrule Warriors[edit]
In all Hyrule Warriors, Toon Link remains a silent protagonist, so Aryll communicates for him through the Pirate's Charm.
In Hyrule Warriors Legends's Master Wind Waker Pack DLC, Lana's and Linkle's standard outfits have a recolor based on Aryll's blue dress. The Master Wind Waker pack also includes an unlockable costume for Cia based on Aryll's dark purple dress. Her dresses, named the Island dress and Skull dress, are included as unlockable Fairy Clothing for companion fairies in My Fairy mode. All of these features were incorporated into Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.
General information[edit]
Physical appearance[edit]
Aryll has short, yellow hair arranged in two ponytails. She has a similar face to Link's. Aryll is usually wearing a light blue dress with a few orange flowers. In the game's ending sequence and during the entire Second Quest, Aryll is wearing a maroon dress with a few large skulls on it.
Personality[edit]
Aryll looks up to Link as her older brother and aspires to become like him. She has a kind and helpful personality, and sometimes helps out her grandma. Aryll is fond of seagulls and enjoys playing with them, especially from her lookout. The Telescope is Aryll's most cherished belonging, but she allows Link to borrow it as a birthday present.

Trivia[edit]
- According to Zelda Box, Eiji Aonuma stated that Aryll was originally going to be named 「マリル」 (Mariru), based on the name of Marin and, by extension, Malon.[1] The red flower in Marin's hair is similar to the floral pattern on Aryll's default dress, and both characters have a love for seagulls.
