Species Deku Baba

Twilit Parasite: Diababa is a giant three-headed Deku Baba and the first boss in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is fought in the Forest Temple. Diababa has a pale green body with dark red markings. Its two smaller heads each have a blue tongue, and the larger head has a yellow eyeball attached to the tip of its tongue. It additionally has giant spider-like legs protruding from its back that it uses to climb the wall behind it.

Battle[edit]

Diababa lunging its large head at Link

At first, Link at first has to fight Diababa's two smaller heads. These heads attack by lunging at Link in an attempt to bite him. There are two platforms floating on the purple-tinted water, with three Bombling holes between them. With the Gale Boomerang Link must fling a Bombling into each head's mouth, causing them to be destroyed. After this, Diababa's central head emerges from the pool of water and destroys the two logs. After a while, the two smaller heads regenerate, although Link is not required to defeat them again, especially as they always regenerate a while after being defeated.

From this point in the battle, Ook starts swinging around the room carrying a Bombling. As with before, Link can use the Gale Boomerang to send the Bombling onto Diababa's head. This stuns Diababa temporarily, and its head falls onto the ground with its mouth open and eye dangling out of its mouth. Link can damage Diababa by slashing at the eye repeatedly. After a while, Diababa gets back up and counterattacks by spitting poison at Link, who must dodge the attack. Link must repeat the process of attacking the center head a few more times to defeat Diababa entirely.

Once Diababa is defeated, it thrashes around, shrivels up, and its eye falls out of its socket and explodes, leaving behind a Heart Container. Diababa's body explodes into particles of twilight, which come together to form the first part of the Fused Shadow.
