Ropes[1] are short, chubby, and eyeless snakelike creatures with large mouths in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, appearing in different quantities depending on the regional version of the game. In all versions of the game, red Ropes are an enemy exclusive to the Great Palace. They sit in place while constantly biting, occasionally jumping to shoot a horizontally-moving fireball that can only be blocked with the Reflect magic. In this manner, they are essentially stronger versions of Octoroks.

Blue Ropes are unique to western releases and appear sooner, in Midoro Palace and the Palace on the Sea. They replace blue Octoroks found in these locations in the Family Computer Disk System version, and as such act just like blue Octoroks otherwise do. They spit rocks, sometimes staying still and sometimes moving.
