Bago-Bagos[1] are skeletal fish found in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, first found in the caves of Death Mountain. They inhabit water or lava, which they leap out from to hit Link when he approaches, usually while traveling across bridges or other platforms he can potentially be knocked off from. If a Bago-Bago hits Link, he loses ten experience points. If they land on solid ground, they continue to slide along it, and sometimes even slide through walls, occasionally spiting rocks forward. Fire Bago-Bagos appear in the Great Palace, acting the same aside from spitting fireballs.
Notably, the sprites of Bago-Bagos do not use an intermediate shade and as such only use two colors at a time, those being white and the color used for the outline. When encountered outside, such as on the bridge leading to Old Kasuto Town, the outline is black, leaving them monochrome. However, when encountered in dark caves or palaces, where black is not assigned for outlines, they are shown to use the red palette.
