Arpagos are flying pterodactyl-like enemies that appear in Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, and are extremely common in both.

In both games, Arpagos attempt to attack either Link or Zelda by flying into them, and frequently appear in seemingly-endless groups. They come in two different sizes, a larger one with purple coloration on the bottom of its wings, and a smaller one that's entirely brown. In Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, the smaller Arpagos can be seen perching on trees; getting closer will make it dive towards Zelda.

Arpagos can be defeated via a single hit from the Sword. Link and Zelda can temporarily freeze aerial enemies, including Arpagos, by ringing the Bell or Flute from their respective title. In Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, there are two trading items related to Arpagos, the Arpagos Egg and the Arpagos Feather. The Bread item may also distract them, although it does not always work.
