Bloopers, also referred to as Bloobers[1][2][3], are squid enemies that appear in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and its Game Boy Color port, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX. They are from the Mario franchise and have the same characteristics as in the Super Mario series titles.

Bloopers only appear in the underwater passages of Catfish's Maw. Bloopers move after Link in a zigzag pattern and attempt to hit into him. If Link is hit by a Blooper, he loses half of a heart of health. Link can use any weapon to instantly defeat a Blooper.

In the Nintendo Switch remake, a Blooper figure is a prize in the Trendy Game, and can be placed on a stand in old man Ulrira's house.

Profiles and descriptions

Zelda Universe

  • "Resembling a cross between an octopus and a squid, Bloobers plague the deep waterways of Koholint Island. They mean no harm, but an involuntary reaction causes them to inflict a poisonous sting on anyone who touches them."

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

  • Player's Guide: "Like most of the denizens of the deep in this game, these Bloobers are easy to defeat. Just use your Sword as you're swimming.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX

  • Prima Games Guide: "Hit these with your Sword as you swim past them and they'll block your path no longer."
