The Hippo Model is a minor character in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. She is a female hippo wearing a yellow ribbon on her head. The Hippo Model appears in Schule Donavitch's studio in Animal Village, posing for a painting. If Link approaches her as the painting is being worked on, she sits down and looks the other way, demanding Link go away. In the Nintendo Switch remake, she specifies that she must be still while being painted.
In the Japanese version for both the Game Boy and Game Boy Color versions, the Hippo Model is posing nude for a painting. She has an exposed pair of breasts and has a towel covering the lower half of her body. This was censored in English releases of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and all western releases of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, where she is instead given a featureless torso. The censorship is altered in the Nintendo Switch remake, where she again has a large bosom, but has it entirely covered by a toga.
