The Town Tool Shop, or simply the Shop[1] is the main shop of Koholint Island, and it appears in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. The Shop appears in Mabe Village and is operated by the Shopkeeper.
It is possible for Link to steal an item from Shop. To do this, Link must go to the top-right corner and quickly sneak around the Shopkeeper to the exit. If the Shopkeeper notices Link attempting to shoplift, he demands Link to pay for the item. Link cannot leave the Shop if the Shopkeeper notices him carrying an item. If Link successfully steals an item and re-enters the Shop, the Shopkeeper angrily strikes him to death; this event only occurs once.
In The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, the seventh photograph in The Travels of Link is of Link shoplifting from Shop. The photo is added to the album if he successfully walks out the shop with an item.
Items for sale
The Town Tool Shop sells both common and unique items, which appear on the wall at the opposite side of the entrance. To buy an item, Link must pick it up and carry it over to the Shopkeeper. If Link does not have enough Rupees, he cannot buy the item.
If Link purchases a common item and re-enters the Shop, the same item returns for sale. When Link purchases a unique item, it is no longer sold in the Shop.
