Goombas are round enemies that appear in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, and the Nintendo Switch remake. They are from the Mario franchise. Unlike normal Goombas, these ones have a smiling expression.

Goombas mostly appear in the sidescrolling passages of both the overworld and most dungeons, possibly referencing the sidescrolling gameplay of the 2D Super Mario series titles. They are frequently found alongside Piranha Plants. Goombas also appear in the main area of Eagle's Tower, which is the only top-down area where they appear.

Link can defeat Goombas from a single hit with any of his weapons. By jumping with the Roc's Feather or by falling from an above platform, Link can squish a Goomba to receive a Recovery Heart. If Link is hit by a Goomba, he loses half of a heart in health. Goombas attack by walking around.

Additionally, a Goomba figure is a prize in the Trendy Game, and can be placed on a stand in Tarin and Marin's house.
