The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Preview Trailer is a rare Nintendo DS cartridge that was handed out to participants at E3 2005. As directly stated in its name, the preview trailer consists of a heavily compressed E3 2005 trailer of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and was presumably made to showcase the Nintendo DS's hardware capability of video playback. The cartridge was included in E3 2005 press kits.[1] A DS Download Play version was also available at the E3 2005 Nintendo Booth.[1]
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Preview Trailer was technically the first The Legend of Zelda-related title to be released on Nintendo DS handhelds, as the first commercially released The Legend of Zelda title, Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, released in 2006. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Preview Trailer was packaged in a cardboard sleeve unlike other Nintendo DS games.
Gameplay[edit]
The game boots to a white splash screen showing the Nintendo logo on top and the ActImagine Video Codec logo on the bottom. After a few seconds, the title screen appears. From the bottom screen, the player can tap the yellow Play button with their stylus to start playback. While the video is playing, the Play button changes to a green Stop button, which stops the video playback and sends the player back to the title screen. The game also redirects back to the title screen when the video playback stops. The sound effects for starting and stopping the trailer are recycled from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's file select menu.
