Thwomps are faced stone slab enemies from the Super Mario series. Their main characteristic is to float in place and slam down to the ground sporadically, especially when the player character draws near.

In the The Legend of Zelda series, Thwomps first appear via derivatives in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, where four types appear in side-scrolling areas: a small one simply called Thwomp, a larger type called Spiked Thwomp, another large, but nonaggressive type called Mega Thwomp, and a platform-based type called Stone Elevator. Some of these return for The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages; the latter also includes a Thwomp boss called Head Thwomp.

In The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, standard Thwomps[1] appear along with Stone Elevators. They have the design of Mega Thwomps and the behavior of Spiked Thwomps.
