Popos, formerly known as Snake Bushels[1] and once incorrectly identified as Leevers[2] are enemies resembling a tangled mass of worms or tentacles that appear in a few The Legend of Zelda games. They are always slow and weak dungeon enemies.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to Past[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link to Past, Snake Bushels appear in the Eastern Palace, Desert Palace, and Misery Mire. They are among the most basic enemies in the game, being very small and slow and taking a large amount of damage to defeat. As such, they generally appear in high numbers. Additionally, their movements are completely random.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, Snake Bushels appear in the Temple of Darkness, where they appear as an enormous horde filling the hallway shortly after the entrance.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Popos appear in the early Hyrule dungeons. They look and act similar to before, though they now actively follow Link and grow from the ground to spawn. Additionally, a stronger type with red tendrils instead of blue appears in the Ice Ruins and Turtle Rock.
