- “Ahoy! When I was searching the desert for the bell, I got caught in a sandstorm. I awoke like this! I can't go on to the afterlife...”
- – Desert pirate, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
The desert pirate is a red-clad member of the pirate crew in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. He was sent by Cap'n to find his missing bell, searching the ship's stern in Subrosia and ending up in Samasa Desert, where the ship's bow is. After getting caught in a sandstorm, he is reduced to a transparent spirit version of himself, who appears on board the ship. When spoken to, he says he cannot reach the afterlife in this state and instructs Link to find his skull in the desert.
The skull is found in the northeastern oasis, and instructs Link to carry him around the desert, telling him when close to the bell. If he is dropped, he has various reactions depending on where; if he is lost, he returns to the oasis. They eventually find the bell in one of the desert's quicksand sinkholes, but find it to be horribly rusted. The skull then says he can finally move on to the afterlife and vanishes in a puff of smoke. However, if Link returns to the oasis, the skull is there, admitting he is not actually sure how to reach the afterlife anymore.
