“Argh! The sea is truly me home! Me heart's come alive! Aye! Sound the bell!”
Cap'n, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

Cap'n is the leader of the skeletal pirates in both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. He is the boyfriend of Queen Ambi, with them constantly apart due to his need to be on the sea.

History[edit]

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Cap'n, his crew, and the stern of his ship ended up in Subrosia when, during a trip to Holodrum, their ship wrecked and Cap'n lost his prized bell overboard. He stays in the House of Pirates, waiting for the crewman he sent to look for the bell to return with it, refusing to shove off again without the bell. If Link offers to find the bell for him, Cap'n dismisses him until he has adventured enough to have gone through "some ruins." After he has done so, Cap'n invites him to search for it, granting Link access to Samasa Desert where the bow of the ship remains. After Link locates the bell, it is found to be too rusted to use, so Cap'n demands it to be polished, which is done by the Subrosian smiths. Once given the restored bell, Cap'n prepares to set sail once more; in the linked game, he is briefly interrupted by the arrival of Ambi, with whom he has a short reunion before he feels the need to set sail again. Link, Cap'n, and his crew board the ship in Subrosia and push through the gateway to Samasa Desert, ending up at sea once more. However, being landlocked so long caused the pirates (Cap'n included) to lose their sea legs, making them get seasick. They quickly moor at the Western Coast, with Cap'n just happy his ship is in the water again.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages[edit]

In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Cap'n and his crew are lost sailing in loops in the Sea of Storms, appearing there in the past in an unlinked game and in the present in a linked game. Once Link has gained access to the Sea of Storms by showing the Zora guarding it in the past the Zora Scale, he can board the ship and meet Cap'n. Cap'n says he can use the Zora Scale to escape the Sea of Storms, and trades Link the Tokay Eyeball for it. In an unlinked game, he states he is sailing for Holodrum, setting up for his appearance in Oracle of Seasons. In a linked game, he instead greets Link by saying he was returning from Holodrum when they became trapped, thus why the pirates appear in different time periods between the two storylines.
