- “Th-those are my gloves! You brought them back? Thank you!”
- – Ricky, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
Ricky is a boxing kangaroo that appears as a partner in both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. Despite being a male kangaroo, he has a pouch, which he lets Link ride inside. He can hop over small gaps and up cliffs just by moving towards them, and attacks by punching. By charging a punch, he can shoot out a small tornado. In both games, Ricky has lost his gloves when Link first meets him, and they must be retrieved before Ricky can help.
History[edit]
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Ricky lives in a grove at Holodrum Plain. His gloves had been taken by Blaino after losing a fight to him, so to get Ricky's help, Link must first win them back. After Link returns them, Ricky takes Link to Spool Swamp, his "backyard." If Link has not obtained a Strange Flute elsewhere or had a different partner in a previously-linked Oracle of Ages playthrough, Ricky will give him Ricky's Flute to call for him any time. If he has, then Ricky will return home once they reach the swamp, disappearing off "to train" once Link gains the power of summer for the Rod of Seasons. If Ricky is the player's partner, they will go through Natzu Prairie together, though Ricky will leave at Sunken City due to it smelling "like medicine." At the end of the game when Din is freed, Ricky and Blaino can be seen having a rematch at Ricky's house.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Ricky appears when Link is preparing to travel to Crescent Island. He stands in the Forest of Time, having lost his gloves at the South Shore. They can be recovered from a dirt pile with the Shovel, after which Ricky helps Link reach Tingle. After Tingle gives Link the Island Chart, Ricky reveals he cannot stand Tingle, leaving and refusing to go near him from that point onward. If Link obtained the Strange Flute from the Shooting Gallery or had Ricky as a partner in a previously-linked Oracle of Seasons playthrough, he later appears lost in the Fairies' Woods. When Link helps him out, he grants him Ricky's Flute and helps him through Nuun Highlands. As with the other partners, he leaves when approaching Symmetry City Ruins due to the heat.
Linked ending[edit]
Ricky is briefly seen with the other partners in a linked ending for either game, where he trades a punch with Link and then hops off with him in his pouch.
