- “We meet again! Will you break our curse, or will we break you?!? Time will tell!”
- – Poe Sisters, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
The Poe Sisters (also parsed as Poe sisters) are four female Poes who occasionally pester Link in haunted areas. From youngest to oldest, they are Amy, Beth, Jo (short for Joelle), and Meg (short for Margaret); these names are derived from the title characters from the novel Little Women.
History[edit]
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time[edit]
- “The fires on the torches are gone. Seems like the ghosts took them away!”
- – Navi, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Poe Sisters appear in the Forest Temple, where they disable the temple's elevator by taking the flames from nearby torches before scattering throughout the temple. Unlike other Poes in the game, they do not carry lanterns, instead wielding torches holding the stolen flames, nor do they drop a Poe Soul upon defeat, instead having the fires be returned. Amy, Beth, and Joelle all attack similar to normal Poes found at the graveyard, albeit turning invisible far more often (which can be negated with Deku Nuts) and twirling at Link to attack. Meg, however, is treated as a miniboss and acts much different, using three duplicates to confuse Link.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask[edit]
- “Defeat the ladies within the time limit and rest their souls in peace.”
- – Poe Collector, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, the Poe Sisters are an optional group miniboss found in the Ghost Hut in Ikana Canyon. They each act as they do in the previous game. First, Amy is fought alone, then Beth and Jo are fought together, and finally Meg is fought with her duplicates.
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons[edit]
In The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Amy and Margaret appear in the Explorer's Crypt. Each has cursed a specific room in the dungeon, causing the lights to slowly go out and warp Link back to the dungeon's entrance when it reaches full darkness. To break the curses, Link needs to light torches near their tombstones, found in separate rooms near each of the cursed rooms. When the curse is lifted, the respective sister fights Link as a normal enemy, with Amy wielding a sword and Margaret using a lantern. Later, both challenge him together as the dungeon's miniboss. Each alternates between attacking and blowing out torches; if all get blown out without being relit, Link is sent back to the entrance. When both are defeated, Link gets a fairy and a two-way warp from the entrance, as with other minibosses.

Trivia[edit]
- The four Poes in the Arbiter's Grounds in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess have a very similar role to the Poe sisters in Ocarina of Time, impeding progress by stealing torch lights. Additionally, the Cubus Sisters in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass have a similar design.
