Cheep Cheeps,[1] sometimes formatted as Cheep-Cheeps,[2] and generically named fish,[3] are underwater fish enemies that appear in several The Legend of Zelda games, the first one being The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. They originate from the Mario franchise.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening / The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
Cheep-Sheeps.[4][5] first appear in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX. Cheep-Sheeps only appear in side-scrolling, subterranean areas, including dungeons. Cheep-Sheeps only swim back and forth and do not actively target Link. He can defeat a Cheep-Sheep with a single hit from his sword or another weapon. If hit by a Cheep-Sheep, Link loses half a heart of his health. They appear in the underwater passages of Angler's Tunnel and Catfish's Maw. If Link is outside the water, a Cheep-Sheep sometimes jumps up at him.
